Chinese Language Course

 For International Students

College of International Exchange of Shanghai University conducts short-term (2 weeks to 3 months), semester and academic year of the Chinese study programs. Warmly welcome foreign friends to participate the program.

2001 Summer Chinese Study Program for International Students (Beginner's Course) is as the following:

1.      Participants: Foreigners who are healthy and interested in Chinese language and culture.

2.      Start of the programs: 28th July 2000 (the time can be changed if the number is up to 15).

3.      Duration of study: 4 weeks (20 class hours every week).

4.      Time for registration: Before the end of May.

5.      Number of students for each time: 15-50.

6.      Courses offered: Basic Chinese and a series lectures on Chinese culture such as Taijiquan, Chinese cooking, Chinese character writing and calligraphy, etc. And study-tour in Shanghai.

7.      Targets: To help the beginners know Chinese phonetics (pinyin) and alphabet, conduct the basic daily conversation and know about the Chinese culture and customs.

8.      Fees:

A. Registration fee: US$40

B. Tuition fee(including teaching materials): US$300 /4 weeks.

C.  Textbooks: US$10

C. Accommodation fee:

          General level rooms: US$3.00/day for double occupancy, US$6.00/day for single occupancy.
                                           Equipped with heat equipment, fan, a telephone set and public equipment.

           Higher level rooms: US$4-7.5day for double occupancy, US$8-15/day for single occupancy.
                                           Equipped with air-conditioners, a bathroom, a telephone and a television, some 
                                 rooms with refrigerator and carpet.

    9. Meals (in the foreign student Dinning Hall): About US$30-60 /month for per person
